Myriad Research appointed to lead Pay and Conditions project
The Advice Workforce Development Fund (AWDF) programme is pleased to announce that Myriad Research Ltd has been appointed to carry out a key piece of research, commissioned as part of the programme, into current salaries and conditions within London’s advice sector.
Ben Hickman, project lead for Myriad, said:
We are excited to work with AWDF on this project aimed at improving the Pay and Conditions for the Advice sector workforce. The work the advice sector does is so important and it is a real privilege to be able to help make the sector more sustainable and hopefully improve the working lives of people who dedicate their time and talents to helping others. This project is not about what we think, it is about providing a voice to those working in the sector.
The research is expected to continue into Spring 2025, and by the end of April to have produced a report with draft pay scales and conditions which can be used to inform activities within the advice sector, funding sector and beyond.
The work will be overseen by the AWDF Pay & Conditions task-and-finish group, and will involve widespread engagement with the sector, though online surveys, interviews and focus groups – both for organisational representatives, and individual advice sector workers.
Chris Scutt, AWDF’s programme manager, added:
We are really delighted to have been able to appoint an organisation with such strong research expertise, and a good understanding of the complexities and challenges of the advice sector, in Myriad Research. We know that improved pay structures and conditions are consistently referenced by organisations and individuals alike to be key drivers in whether people choose to join and stay in the sector. This project will enable us to gain a true picture of the state of pay and conditions as they are currently, and furthermore, to collectively influence organisational, funder and commissioning, and wider stakeholder approaches to pay and conditions within the free social welfare advice arena.
The work of the Pay & Conditions T&F group, including this project, is being funded thanks to the generosity of the National Lottery Community Fund.
