GENERATING SOLUTIONS TO WORKFORCE RELATED CAPACITY ISSUES WITHIN ADVICE SECTOR
The Advice Workforce Development Fund (AWDF) is currently seeking the support of a consultant (or consultants) who can identify, analyse and recommend solutions to workforce-related organisational capacity challenges within the social welfare advice sector.
A focus on equity will be essential to this work, including the impacts of the challenges and recommended solutions on equity-focussed organisations.
The scope of the work includes:
- Current approaches to recruitment and retention
- Current training available for both advice agency staff and managers
- What peer support is available within and between agencies
- Identify best practice in terms of the different forms of supervision
The deliverables, by October 2025, will be the production of a report which:
- Contains recommended models that can be used by social welfare advice providers and partnerships of all sizes and types, including the impact of: regulatory and training requirements; a focus on equity; and being a small advice provider;
- Contains case studies to complement the recommendations, drawn from across the advice sector organisations;
- Is capable of being used by grant funders and commissioning bodies to inform their funding decisions and amounts;
- Is capable of being shared via a user-friendly online platform.
You will work closely with members of the AWDF’s Organisational Capacity task-and-finish group, who will offer support, and contribute to the content of these deliverables. For day-to-day support and direction where necessary, the consultant(s) will work with the London Legal Support Trust’s programme management team.
