Call for Evidence
As demand for social welfare advice surges, the Advice Services Alliance (ASA) has launched a major review into workforce capacity challenges across the sector.
The government’s recently announced Green Paper on Benefits Reform is expected to increase demand for advice, particularly among disabled people, those with long-term health conditions, and others in vulnerable circumstances. Already, advice services across London are feeling the pressure.
The Advice Workforce Development Programme has identified some critical capacity-related challenges that impact the delivery and long-term sustainability of advice provisions. These include challenges around recruitment and retention, training and development, as well as peer support and supervision.
In response, ASA, the umbrella body for independent legal and social welfare advice services, has been commissioned to carry out this work between spring and autumn 2025. As part of the process, ASA has issued a call for evidence Call for Evidence inviting advice services and stakeholders to share their views and solutions.
The online questionnaire is open until the end of June 2025 and takes around 10–15 minutes to complete. If you leave your name and contact details you will have the chance of winning one of five £50 John Lewis vouchers! Respondents can also email info@asauk.org.uk or request a one-to-one conversation to share their views.
